Guys, I have been wanting to read this book for so long! Santa, of course, forgot to bring it, so I went ahead and ordered it from Amazon last week. I started the book the day I got it, and 3 days later I was done! Seriously! Even with 3 kids, I was able to finish the book in 3 days! It’s such a quick read, the chapters are short and to the point. They get you thinking, and inspire you to get off your butt and be who you’re meant to be.

What’s great about this book is that there really is something for everyone in it. I’m the dork who underlines sentences and phrases while reading, so when I talk about the book later, I can go back and reference what stuck out to me. I even had notes to read to my husband, that I thought would inspire him. And, the best part? My bestie (who is at a COMPLETELY different stage of life than I am) was reading it at the same time, so we could talk about it, and better understand what we were each going through. Different chapters described our current situations, and for me at least, it helped me understand where she was a bit more (since I’m so far out of that time).

Like the photo above says, “your life is up to you.” It was a great reminder of how even though sometimes it’s tough, you have to push through and do what you have to reach your goal. I have to remind myself time and time again the times I’ve reached goals I set: start my own company, be home with my kids, live near the ocean… you get it. I need the reminder especially when I’m going through a funk: “I must suck at being a mom, my kids don’t listen to me at all!” or “I’m never going to be able to build my Beautycounter business, I’m overwhelmed with everything on my plate already!” <- Currently these are things I’m struggling with, but I know they are just a moment in time, it too shall pass.

Do yourself a favor and pick up the book for yourself. I promise it’s a quick, easy read. And bonus, Reese Witherspoon is even reading it right now! (see Instagram if you don’t believe me).

So, thank you, Rachel Hollis, for writing a book that is such a good reminder to us all— no matter where we are in our lives— that our life is up to us, we are in control of it.

I’ll leave you all with my favorite / most inspiring line in the book:

“You have to decide that you care more about creating your magic and pushing it out into the world than you do about how it will be received.”

As an artist, this line says it all to me. Just do what you love – get it out there. What are you waiting for, are you doing what you love?

xoxo
