Stepping out of your comfort zone. That is one of the hardest things you can do, but one of the most necessary. It’s comfortable to keep at what you know, keep doing the same thing, day after day. But, sometimes, if you’re like me, you get the feeling that you just need a change, there’s something more you’re meant to do, and you need to go out and find it.

That’s how I feel. That’s how I’ve felt for most of my adult life. There are bigger plans for me that I’ve achieved. Life can be that much better – but it’s my job to challenge myself, put myself out there, and go after the opportunities I have.

So, that’s what I’ve done. When I was done working in corporate America, I decided to take the leap and start my own business. Just a year later, we really took the leap when Nic left corporate America too to join me. And then, 2 months after that, with an 8-month-old, we moved out of our house and started a massive renovation. During those 14 months, we were also crazy enough to get pregnant again. Timing in life is never perfect, but it’s right. We have 2 boys who are best friends and love hanging out with each other. Our home renovation gave us a nice investment for our future. And, our business has grown steadily each year over the last 5 years, we’ve met tons of new clients, made friends with them, and watched their businesses grow and profit.

And, I’ve learned how to work on “balancing” mom-life and work-life. Which, is never perfect, and when I added in becoming a Beautycounter consultant 3 years ago, I think I really was a little nutty. But, I was passionate about finding healthier alternatives for my family. I know that a lot of traditional medicine makes us sicker. That if we took a step back and ate healthier, used better, safer products, and were more aware of nature and our surroundings, we’d be much healthier, and better off. And Beautycounter was my platform for helping me get that message out there for all to know.

I’ve found when I’ve challenged myself, and stepped out of my comfort zone, in the end, I’ve found more peace, more happiness, and a better quality of life. In my “old” age I’ve learned to care less about what other people think of me and stand up for what I really, truly believe in. It’s important to me at this point of my life to do the best I can for me and my family, to worry less, to stress less, to laugh more, and most of all to love, and follow my heart, even if it leads me to challenges – in the end, they’ll work out, and I’ll be better off.
